over the weekend my friend, andy, helped renovate my closet. i had decided that my closet made no sense, the opening was about 2 feet wide and that's about all i could access, and there's plenty more space in there...so the opening was expanded to 5 feet. i started painting the inside yellow..the trim will be white.

i started student teaching in the 1st grade last wednesday. it has only been 3 school days so far but they have been enjoyable. i am frightened to think of what i actually have to accomplish and i have come up with the idea that i won't know what i'm doing until i'm done. last semester i learned what it was like to do what i thought was impossible...i'm sure this semester will follow similar guidelines.

tonight i got to see a wonderful documentary about children's literature from the adult perspective. it was called library of the early mind, i recommend it to anyone that ever enjoyed a book as a child or likes documentaries. we were also really lucky at bridgewater to meet the producers of the film. here is the trailer for those who are interested.


so student teaching has led me to discussing funny things from my childhood. my aunt told me that once when i was learning about compound words i said "toilet, that's a compound word!" which led my mom to say...in modern day... "metronome, metro gnome."

i'm looking forward to continue student teaching and let me know if you think of any other "compound" words.

welcome to the new year

so richie bought me a couple books on diy projects for my birthday...found at the value bookstore.

the first is the homemade home with cute ideas for personalizing items and the second is tutorial on stenciling walls, furniture, etc...and it includes 10 stencils...the patterns are on the far right.

this is for my friend marie, who was looking to decorate some mason jars. the idea is that you cut out fabric and use double sided tape to stick it to the jars. really simple but also really cute. i bet you could use hot glue too. it suggested taking a hole punch and creating your own designs on plain fabric...like the heart on the pink fabric.

hi there everyone...or anyone.
what i've been up to lately is doing a lot of school work and doing some sewing.
i'm signed up for a craft fair in november with my aunt...i really need to start cranking out some sewing projects. here's what i got so far:

2 bags, 7 make up bags, 4 wristlets, 3 eyeglass cases, and 1 toolbelt!

the tool belt is something i just made this afternoon..i wanted to try it cuz i thought the "green" fabric i had would look cool in it...

found an old shelf thing on the side of the road the other day..after watching another one get smushed to pieces a few days before.

i stripped the paint off...but after how long it took wished i didn't bother cuz its still not all off...gonna probably repaint it white and add new hardware.

richie and i went to "plane" jane's for breakfast on sunday and a few weekends ago went to the beach on a stormy afternoon.
